Learn how to make a tutu, it’s easier than you think

In the 19^th century, there was a tradition of wearing a special type of dress for dating and in any other important occasion like marriage etc. That particular costume is known as the ballet and tutu is associated with it. Now the question may arise in someone's mind that how to make a ballet tutu. It is not necessary for you to go to anywhere for making the ballet tutu. You can buy the necessary product of making the ballet tutu from any local fabric store. The things that are needed for making a ballet tutu are as follows:-

• Ribbon
• Measuring tape
• Ballet Basque or dance briefs
• Fine silk or nylon tulle
• Thread
• Sewing machine
• Scissors
• Stiff petticoat tulle
• Needle
• Snaps
• Pencil
• Fabric

Now we will discuss about how to make a ballet tutu in home. The whole procedure is being given in the step wise below. There are two types of ballet tutu, which are romantic tutu, and the other one is pancake tutu. First, we will discuss about the romantic tutu.

Step 1:-

First, we have to determine the waist of the dancer along with the length upto the knee from the waist. These are necessary to find out the waistband size and the tulle's length respectively.

Step 2:-

In the second step, you have to cut the ribbon according to the measurement of the waist. Now fix the snaps in the ends. Please be sure that the ribbon is not so tightly fixed with the body of the dancer.

Step 3:-

The width of the tulle should be three times the dimension of the waist.

Step 4:-

Cut the tulle very fine as the length up to the knee from the waist. It should consist of three layers.

Step 5:-

Now you have to stitch each of the layers, which should be within the 6 inches from the edge.

Step 6:-

Now in this step you have to set the ribbon in the waistband by running stitch in all of the three layers.

Step 7:-

            Now you have to stitch the wrong side of the tulle of the waistband for making it more attractive. Please leave a small overlap at the closure.
